• actinomycin D

• amantadine

• most antipsychotic drugs, such as Thorazine,

• and Stelazine, and butyrophenones like Haldol.

• L-asparaginase

• birth control pills

• central nervous system stimulants (e.g. amphetamines, caffeine, cocaine, methyphenidate, theophylline*)

• chloroquin

• clonidine

• corticosteroids (e.g. cortisone, prednisone)

• co-trimoxasole

• cycloserine

• o,p-DDD

• digitalis

• disulfiram

• DTIC

• ethambutol

• ethchlovynol

• Ftorafur

• glutethimide

• guanethidine

• H2 receptor antagonists (e.g. Cimetidine, Ranitidine)

• hexamethylenamine

• hydralazine

• hydroxychloroquine

• ibuprofen

• indomethacin

• isonazid

• levodopa (L-dopa)

• marijuana

• methyldopa

• methyprylon

• naproxen narcotics (e.g. heroine, morphine, codeine,methadone)*

• nitrogen mustard

• PCP

• phenylbutazone

• cis-platinum

• procarbazine

• propranolol (other beta blocker drugs whose names end in -olol are also suspect)

• reserpine

• sulfonamides

• tamoxifen

• toluene

• tranquillizers & sedatives (i.e. benzodiazepines like Valium and lorazepam; Miltown or Equanil;

• barbiturates like phenobarbital)*

• vincristine

• vinblastine

• zompirac sodium.
   

Recently, the following drugs have also come under suspicion: antihistamines, decongestants and diet pills (all if used long term); cholesterol lowering drugs (lovastatin,pravastain, simvastatin); anti-convulsants and calcium channel blockers such as nifedipine.

Depression can also be promoted by very high doses of: niacinamide, Vit. A, Vit. D, calcium (also found in antacids) magnesium ( found in antacids and cathartics) zinc, iron, copper, choline and lecithin.

* depression can also occur when you stop taking very high doses.
