Drugs that may cause secondary
depression include:
- anti-parkinsonian drugs:
- hypotensives:
- methyldopa
- clonidine
- reserpine
- cytotoxics:

Recently, the following drugs have also
come under suspicion: antihistamines, decongestants and diet pills (all
if used long term); cholesterol lowering drugs (lovastatin,pravastain,
simvastatin); anti-convulsants and calcium channel blockers such as
nifedipine.
Depression can also be promoted by very
high doses of: niacinamide, Vit. A, Vit. D, calcium (also found in
antacids) magnesium ( found in antacids and cathartics) zinc, iron,
copper, choline and lecithin.
* depression can also occur when you stop taking very
high doses.
