Jarrow
Curcumin 95 - Turmeric extract
is an 18:1 concentrate of the antioxidants found
in the spice turmeric root.
Curcumin 95 contains 95% curcuminoids
(including curcumin, demethoxycurcumin and
bisdemethoxycurcumin), which are antioxidants.
Specifically, curcumin and its derivatives
protect DNA against oxidative damage induced by
singlet oxygen.
The name derives from the Latin for Turmeric,
which is Curcuma longa. The roots of the plant are stem-like and
are used as an herb in Asian cooking,
responsible for the yellow color and the flavor
of many curries
